BIOGRAPHY

Wesley Chin is a music transcriber and airline pilot based in the Greater Philadelphia area.

Wesley’s musical journey began at a young age with classical piano before he discovered the alto saxophone in elementary school. His passion for jazz took shape in high school, where he performed in multiple jazz ensembles and formed a jazz combo.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Wesley began transcribing jazz saxophone solos as a way to deepen his own understanding of the music. In 2020, he released his first official artist transcription book, Chad LB Transcribed - a collection of 50 solo transcriptions of jazz saxophonist Chad Lefkowitz-Brown. This project led to several additional publications with Lefkowitz-Brown and other projects with his education company, Jazz Lesson Videos.

Since then, Wesley has collaborated on transcription books and projects for a wide range of acclaimed jazz musicians, including Grace Kelly, Leo P, Steven Feifke, Jumaane Smith, Sam Dillon, Andrew Gould, Ryan Devlin, Tim Lin, Mike Tucker, Steve Kortyka, Erena Terakubo, Vincent Herring, and Eric Alexander.

A 2023 graduate of Rutgers University-New Brunswick with a B.S. in Finance, Wesley balances his musical work with a career in aviation. He is currently a full-time airline pilot for a major U.S. carrier, flying Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
